High Definition Video!

24 06 2009

So…I bought a nice new Canon 5DMKII!! And what comes with this camera body besdies great performance in low light scenarios…..full 1080p high definition video!

I am still slowly learning how to use Final Cut Pro and all of those types of technical programs. Once I get some of that stuff down pat I’ll move on to audio options and eventually start pumping out some cool videos.

Until that happens…I have been dabbling in it a bit and have created some short videos around Grand Bank. Check out my latest below of a ship that came into port tonight.

Follow Me on Twitter!

I’m sure some of you have heard of Twitter, although most people still don’t have any idea as to what it is. So, what is twitter you ask? Well…according to the website Tweeternet.com :

Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows you answer the question, “What are you doing?” by sending short text messages 140 characters in length, called “tweets”, to your friends, or “followers.”

Here is a view of my Twitter page:

Photo Shoot – Newfound Icelandic Designs

22 03 2009

Today we went and did a photo shoot for Newfound Icelandic Designs.  They are a relatively new company located in downtown St. John’s, and specialize in very high end clothing.  This shoot also serves as the second shoot in a series that we are doing based around seasons and nationalities.  We have already done one (Autumn/Irish) and this one is Winter/Icelandic.

Rural Decay – Burin Peninsula

2 03 2009

The following are a set of images I took last winter (2008) of various buildings on the Burin Peninsula.  The theme of this set is to illustrate the “Rural Decay” of the region.  Some of the wonderful old buildings have been forgotten about while families and individuals move on.

Sneak Peak!

26 02 2009
Well, it turns out my hospital images have helped push forward an independent film! Martine Blue is currently in the pre-production stage, and I have been contracted out to do the poster as well as the production shots. I find this really exciting and as such have decided to show you the photograph that will be used in her poster.

Grand Bank Cottage Hospital

28 01 2009

I went to the old cottage hospital in Grand Bank about a week ago in an effort to get a few images of the place as it is going to be torn down.  I wanted to process the images in a way that will showcase the eerie 1940s “Hitchcock” style vibe that it often gives people.  Below are some samples of the images, complete with a representation of the ghost that is said to be haunting the place (ghost is due to camera tricks..not a real ghost ;) )

I initially placed these images on Facebook and the reception has been amazing!  The most interesting thing though is that CBC Radio called me and wanted me to do an interview about the hospital.
